Well today is Sunday; so obviously, I am a little more behind than usual. I’m still doing all right so far thoughJ. Well this week I wanted to figure out what my topic was going to be and how I needed to change it. During class, after talking to Mrs. McCommas, I figured out how I could narrow my topic. Instead of trying to research everything that happens to Parkinson’s disease patient’s speech (respiration, phonation, neurology, etc.), I am going to research what ways Parkinson’s disease impacts speech comprehension. Once I left class on Wed. I felt very confident and was reassured after talking to my teacher. However, after I went home I started working on assignments and tried to do a library search, I became very worried—and still am. I am so afraid that I am not going to be able to find enough information on my topic. So far everything I find seems to be about treatment. I have yet to find a web page or library source (from my library search) that just gives information or even talks a lot about specific neurological problems. I’m not sure if I’m just not looking in the right places or what!!! I find it very hard to believe that there is not more information out there about the disease--not medicines or treatments—but just direct information that describes the disease and gives a medical explanation. I have tried looking up different searches that would lead me to what I want, but I’m still not getting what I am looking for. I’ve tried typing in ‘Parkinson’s disease’, ‘Parkinson’s disease and speech’, ‘Parkinson’s disease and speech therapy’, ‘ Parkinson’s disease and neurology’, and some others. I thought about changing my whole topic, but then I think I’d be even further behind. So… that’s my big dilemma. I’m going to keep tryin to find information, if anything I guess this will help my searching skills …to look on the bright side…if not, I’m in trouble!!
